Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 March 2026
WearBefore ("we", "our", "us") operates the WearBefore mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the App.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Recommendation Engines LTD, registered in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at privacy@wearbefore.app.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
Account data: email address and hashed password, collected when you create an account. This is necessary to provide the service.
Body photographs: full-body photos you upload for the virtual try-on feature. These images are stored securely in our cloud storage and are used solely to generate try-on results for you.
Try-on images: AI-generated images showing how clothing items look on your body photo. These are stored in your account so you can access them from your wardrobe.
Usage data: information about how you use the App, including features accessed, try-ons performed, and app interactions. We collect this via analytics services to improve the App.
Purchase data: subscription and credit purchase records, managed via subscription management services. We do not store your payment card details — all payment processing is handled by the relevant app store (Google Play or Apple App Store).
Device data: device type, operating system version, and app version, collected automatically for debugging and compatibility purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide the virtual try-on service, including processing your body photos with AI image generation
- To manage your account, wardrobe, and saved try-on results
- To process subscriptions and credit purchases
- To improve the App through anonymised usage analytics
- To diagnose technical issues and prevent abuse
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b)): processing your account data, body photos, and try-on images is necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): analytics and error reporting to improve the App, provided these do not override your rights.
5. AI Image Processing
Your body photographs are sent to third-party AI image generation services to create virtual try-on images. This processing happens on the service provider's servers. We send only the minimum data required (your body photo and the clothing image). Our service providers process this data in accordance with their API terms of service and do not use API inputs for training their models. The generated try-on images are returned to our servers and stored in your account.
6. Categories of Data Recipients
We share your data with the following categories of third-party service providers, solely for the purposes described in this policy:
- Cloud hosting and database providers: store your account data, profile information, and image files securely. Our providers use encryption at rest and in transit, and are hosted within the EU.
- AI image generation providers: process body photos and clothing images to generate virtual try-on results. Only the minimum data required is sent (your body photo and the clothing image).
- Subscription and purchase management providers: manage subscription state, entitlements, and purchase validation on our behalf.
- Analytics providers: collect anonymised usage data to help us understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. Our analytics provider is EU-hosted.
- App store platforms (Google Play / Apple App Store): handle all payment processing for subscriptions and purchases. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
7. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on our cloud hosting provider's infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Body photographs and try-on images are stored in secure, private storage buckets accessible only to your authenticated account. We implement row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including your body photos, try-on images, wardrobe items, favourites, and profile information — is permanently deleted from our systems. We do not retain copies of your data after account deletion.
9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure: request deletion of your data. You can do this yourself directly in the App via Settings > Delete Account & Data — no request to us is required.
- Data portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Restriction: request that we limit processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@wearbefore.app. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Account and Data Deletion
You have full control over your data stored on our servers. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from within the App by navigating to Settings > Delete Account & Data. No request to us is needed — the deletion is immediate and initiated entirely by you.
This action is permanent and irreversible. Upon deletion, the following data is permanently removed from our servers: your body photos, all AI-generated try-on images, wardrobe items, favourite stores, profile information, and your authentication record. We do not retain any copies of your data after account deletion.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions, in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
